Measuring Vehicle Exhaust Noise
The measurement process consists of checking the meter's calibration,
setting the meter up in the correct position and then making a
number of measurements with the vehicle's engine running at the
correct speed.
1) Check the Meter's Calibration

|
|
The calibrator (included in the CK261S Kit)
is used to check the calibration of the sound level meter
before making measurements. This is usually a requirement
of the regulations and should be done before starting noise
measurements. |
- Fit the calibrator onto the microphone
- Switch the calibrator on
- Press the Cal button
|
 |
2) Position the Sound Level Meter
|
|
In accordance with the ISO 5130 standard, the microphone
should be positioned 0.5m from the exhaust outlet at an
angle of 45°.
