LiveNoise Overview

The LiveNoise software connects to a remote sound level meter, showing the sound levels in real-time and indicating high noise levels.

• Remote display of sound levels
• High noise level alarms displayed and saved to file
• Wireless or wired network connection

Connection to the Meter

Connection to the sound level meter can be by direct connection - RS232. For longer distances (around a factory for example), it is usually more convenient to connect over a standard wired or wireless network. The meter is connected to a wireless router or hub and the software communicates with it over the Ethernet network using the TCP/IP protocol.

Live Sound Level Display

The sound level can be displayed either graphically or as a simple large number. The warning and alarm levels (if enabled) are displayed on the graph.

An option is available to keep the LiveNoise software on top of other programs so you can check the noise levels at all time.

High Noise Warning and Alarm

A Warning and an Alarm level in the software will let you know of high noise levels. These can be configured as follows:

• Warning Level - a simple threshold. When the sound level exceeds this point the digital level reading changes colour and the words "WARNING LEVEL" are displayed.
• Alarm Level - a threshold and duration. When the level exceeds this point for the given number of seconds the digital level changes colour and the words "HIGH LEVEL" are displayed. The details of the alarm are displayed as shown on the left. Details of the alarm can be automatically saved for further analysis and reporting using a spreadsheet.
