Why Calibrate? |
| |
Sound Level Meters measure very small changes in pressure.
The microphone and measurement chain may drift due to temperature
stress and every-day knocks and bumps. |
| |
| |
Regular calibration gives the following benefits:
- Assurance that the meter is still accurate
- Most faults are repaired free of charge
(except microphones and displays)
- The meter gets a full service, helping to prolong its
life
- A Calibration Certificate is supplied showing traceability
When does it matter?
- When measurements are made for legal purposes
- Noise at Work - hearing protection
- Environmental - BS4142, planning, boundary

How Often ? |
| |
We recommend that equipment is returned for calibration
once every year. This fits in with most calibration and service
schedules and also with many noise measurement regulations. |
| |
| |
Some regulations, such as those for Noise
at Work, state that the calibration should be carried
out at least every two years. |
