noise consultant

A qualified engineer will visit your premises and make a detailed noise survey in line with the European Noise at Work Regulations. Personnel and specific jobs will be assessed for risk of hearing damage and advice given on any actions that may be needed, such as reducing the noise at source, changing work patterns or providing the correct type of hearing protection.

Noise Survey

A typical noise survey will consists of the following:

  • Briefing - introducing the engineer to your plant and operations
  • Manual noise measurements using a hand-held sound level meter
  • Noise dosemeters mounted on personnel who carry out noise intensive tasks
  • Manual Octave Band analysis for particularly noisy areas (hearing protection assessment)

After the initial briefing, and assuming your site regulations allow it, the engineer will be happy to work alone, so you can get on with your day without being interrupted.

For more details of the survey, please visit the Survey page.

  • Management Summary

Qualifications

The HSE guidelines (Controlling Noise at Work, L108), clearly state that:

You should ensure that any measurements are carried out by someone who is competent, ie someone with the relevant skills, knowledge and experience to undertake measurements in your particular working environment.

NoiseMeters will only send out engineers who have suitable and recognised qualifications, such as the Institute of Acoustics Certificate of Competence - Workplace Noise Risk Assessment. The engineers also have a great deal of experience in measuring noise and working out the most cost effective actions, if any are needed at all.

Read more about the engineers' qualifications at on our Qualifications page.
