Most occupational noise control decisions are made based on the
worker's LEP,d (see help on LEP,d
Calculator). However, when the noise exposure varies considerably
from day to day, it is possible to average this exposure over the
full working week, producing a parameter called the LEP,w. This
LEP,w is then checked against the action levels and appropriate
noise control action is taken.
To use the LEP,w Calculator, enter the
worker's Daily Noise Exposure Level LEP,d for
each day worked. Notes can be entered if you intend to print a
report.
In this example the person in question works a total of 1½ days
in the Workshop, two days in the Sales Office and
one day in the Design Lab. The overall Weekly Noise Exposure
LEP,w is 78.8 dB.
The following colour codes are used for the result.
Black
Level is below the first action level.
Red
Level is above the first action level but below the second
action level.
Red Bold
Level is above the second action level.
The calculator will accept LEP,d values of between 20 and 140
dB.
